Jonathan Holmes is a tech and design entrepreneur with previous businesses in digital, e-commerce, and media.
He founded LuxDeco in 2012, after being frustrated and uninspired by luxury interiors on the high street. He couldn’t find pieces that he felt really championed the fine craftsmanship and high-quality materials he loved so much. And he wanted to change that.
“Having a large entrepreneurial family, and an insight into the world of interiors from my mother, I had the perfect background to launch the business,” says Jonathan Holmes. “So, I decided to create a luxury interior design business that would really ‘own’ the digital space in this market.”
And LuxDeco was born, as a destination for luxury design enthusiasts to find the most world’s most beautiful products.
It is now arguably the most disruptive digital platform the industry has welcomed.
Jonathan Holmes says that, as LuxDeco’s Founder, he’s proud of the luxe and customer focus of the business. He is passionate about helping others live beautifully and in creating a retail experience which makes it easy to discover products people love with no restrictions.
LuxDeco has partner relationships with over 350 brands, including established brands such as AERIN, Bernhardt, Cire Trudon, Eichholtz, Kelly Wearstler, and Ralph Lauren. The company also supports small artisan brands, giving them an opportunity to reach a global luxury audience. In March 2020 LuxDeco launched “Think Big, Shop Small”. This is an exciting campaign that is supporting small and independent design brands and artisans during the Coronavirus outbreak. These brands constitute a large proportion of the global interiors industry and are likely to be hardest hit.
Jonathan Holmes believes that LuxDeco’s success is based very much on how it uses data science, proprietary algorithms, and expert curators to aggregate and standardise product data. In doing so, this approach enables LuxDeco to offer a curated selection of products from its 350+ premium brands, with minimal inventory risk and a personalised shopping experience.
In the first quarter of 2020, LuxDeco sales increased by 119%. Furniture sales rose by 175%, accessories by 42%, and lighting sales by a massive 320%.
